Utah Charitable Registration Requirements
Utah no longer requires charitable organizations to file a separate annual charitable registration with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection (DCP). Effective January 1, 2025, domestic and foreign nonprofits conducting business in Utah must instead register their nonprofit entity with the Utah Division of Corporations and Commercial Code (DCCC) and annually upload their most recently filed IRS Form 990, 990-EZ, 990-N, or 990-PF as part of their business entity registration or annual renewal. The DCCC serves solely as the repository for these IRS filings on behalf of the DCP, replacing the former charitable registration process while maintaining the state’s oversight of charitable organizations.
