Alaska Charitable Registration Requirements

Unless exempt, a charitable organization must register with the Alaska Attorney General before soliciting charitable contributions in Alaska.

Out-of-state nonprofits that register under the Alaska charitable registration laws are not required to qualify to do business in Alaska. However, engaging in other business activities such as having an office or employees in Alaska may trigger the requirement to register to do business in Alaska.

Alaska Exempts the Following from Charitable Solicitation Registration:
  • Less than $5,000 nationwide contributions per year
  • Contributions received from 10 individuals or less
  • Religious organizations
  • Political candidates and groups
  • Organizations with a current gaming permit issued by Alaska Department of Revenue.

Alaska Requires the Following Supporting Documents for Charitable Solicitation Registration:

  • $40. Make check payable to State of Alaska.
Registered Agent:
  • Alaska does not require a registered agent for charitable solicitation registration.
